Top 5 reasons I believe Substack is the platform for the transformational entrepreneur
Opposite the content creator business model of all the other platforms...
Rather listen?
When I started my business 8 years ago and left a very high paying career, sold our home, and put all the chips on me and what many saw as a dangerous game of roulette..I thought the only option to have success was to become an influencer/content creator on Instagram, Youtube or LinkedIn.
(and by success, I didn’t mean become a multi-million dollar business - I just wanted to make enough money to give my family of five a good life, pay for college and truly love the work I was doing.)
And so, in 2018, I tried everything. I tried every content strategy and funnel strategy under the sun to be successful.
Not only did it not work, my husband and I were in a rough spot - 18 months had gone by since I left IBM - and a paycheck - and no money coming in. Only money going OUT to invest in all these online gurus who were convincing me they had the answer.
I tried ALL THE THINGS. Spent $100s of thousands. So much time.
I felt like a fish out of water. Performing as an influencer coach on Instagram did not come natural and the content was meh.
I paid $5K to a Youtube expert to help me start a channel because all the gurus said - “its a search engine - you have to be on there!” and I hated it - I mean loathed the process to create the videos and the platform itself - I rarely ever use it myself.
Enter the LinkedIn gurus - all telling me that “Instagram and Youtube are saturated, the real growth is on LinkedIN!”
So I invested several times, tried to implement the cumbersome, lengthy and forced activities to try to grow a following and get leads on LinkedIn.
So much time, money and frustration - with nothing to show for it. I didn’t even want to hang out on those platforms, never mind perform for them.
So, I went back to my business basics - I have my MBA, I was VP of marketing at IBM, I know business, it is my career! I ditched the online gurus and found a mentor teaching basic, yet timeless, business principles but in the online space.
And it worked - I went from zero and in debt to $1.4M in revenue in 18 months. This was 6 years ago!
In fact, many women come to work with me because they also do not want to dance on Reels, post to crickets and waste precious time on social media.
I continued to run my business and teach this for the last 6 years and gave up the thought that I need to be an organic content creator on the social media platforms.
And then I met Substack…
It wasn’t love at first sight - I was super skeptical. But I gave it a chance.
And for the first time in 8 years of building an online business, I felt home.I felt like I was with my people.
For the first time in 8 years of building an online business, my email list is growing for FREE, organically, because my words are reaching people and they like what I am sharing.
As I work with nearly 1000 women around the world who are near or over 50 wanting to do their legacy work in the world - there is one big thing holding them back.
They think, just like I did, that they need to master social media to grow their business.
I recently did a poll of our community who are so frustrated with social media. Here is what I asked:
94% actually want an organic content and community platform for their movements.
I believe we finally have an option. SUBSTACK.
I want to share the top 5 reasons why I am obsessed with Substack and why I am going all in.
#1. Thought leaders are here.
#2. No ads.
#3. No one is telling me what to do, convincing me what to buy.
#4. There is organic reach.
#5. I FEEL different here.
There are more reasons I can share later - but these are the ones I am feeling now.
Instead of spending an insane amount of time trying to beat the algorithm on Instagram or LinkedIn, women can spend time mastering their craft, their thought leadership - truly their legacy work.
But they also have an opportunity to do that live, in front of new people, having their best work rewarded for its actual content, not because of a viral dancing trend on reels.
I believe Substack is the thought leader platform we have been missing.
Substack may have been around for awhile, but it is in its infancy in adoption and growth.
As with any platform, first to market gets the benefits, early bird gets the worm. First to be on this platform and grow - the more you will be rewarded in your life’s work.
I will be going into depth on the content strategy on Substack - what’s working, what’s not and why this is not a place to cross post content from Instagram.
To be clear - I am not teaching Substack - showing what content is working and why and how to propel your mission forward and build your tribe.
Substack content is different than any other platform.
Very different.
If you are going to explore this high growth, high impact platform for your business, it is imperative to know what will raise you up and what will keep you invisible.

You are crushing so proud of you!!!
I'm so happy to be here with you! :)
