👉 Come join me for the free 5-day New Era Coach Masterclass — we kick off Friday, May 1st. Register now and I’ll send you an advance copy of my book TRIBAL: The New Era of Business for Women Near and Over 50, free. Over 5,000 women are already in.
I’m opening this episode with a confession that’s hard to admit but important for me to say to you: the worst mentors and bosses of my 25-year corporate career were women. Not because they were bad humans — but because they were operating inside a 100-year-old corporate system built by men, for men, and rewarded only when they performed masculinity better than the men around them. Did you know women weren’t even allowed to run the Boston Marathon until 1967? That’s not ancient history. That’s 14 years before I was born.
I want to walk you through what that conformity actually looked like for me at IBM — toned-down clothing, zero tolerance for childcare, women I knew putting their kids in boarding school so they could make VP. I’ll tell you about the day I left a meeting that ran two hours over because I was the soccer coach for my six-year-old’s team. The female VP turned to my boss afterward and said, “I thought you said Julie wanted to become an executive.” That moment crystallized something for me: the women in power weren’t leading. They were conforming. And honestly? The male mentors I had gave me more real support than any of the female ones ever did. That still makes me sad to say.
But here’s what I want you to hear: the fix isn’t more women acting like men. It’s a new era — and I believe we’re already at the threshold, with the new cycle officially beginning in 2027. This era is about you, the individual. About intuition over analysis. About frequency over force. About building a business and a life that doesn’t require recreating the corporate hierarchy that broke so many of us in the first place.
In the masterclass next week, I’m going to walk you through four pillars.
The first is the new era opportunity — the perfect storm that’s making this moment uniquely powerful for you if you’re near or over 50, and why all the backlash and chaos you’re seeing right now is part of the shift, not a sign it’s failing.
The second is that your legacy work does not have to look like an empire. A simple, multiple-six-figure, highly profitable business is not a consolation prize — it’s the goal. You don’t need to boss-babe your way through everything to be successful and deeply happy.
The third is why I believe Substack is the feminine approach to business. It’s not a blog. It’s not a newsletter. It’s your personal publishing house. A multimedia company you own. A way to build real influence without performing for an algorithm.
The fourth is community and tribe. Waking up alone is hard. Doing this work alongside other women doing the exact same thing is how it actually sticks — and I want you in that room with us.
I want to leave you with the reframe I live by. The Dalai Lama once said the world would be saved by the Western woman. I believe the world will be saved by the ignited woman. Not the one screaming on social media. Not the one marching with signs.
The one who has done the inner work to raise her own frequency — and lets that ripple outward into her family, her business, her community, and eventually the systems she touches.
This isn’t a quiet rebellion. But it’s a different kind of loud — one that comes from the inside out. And I really, really want you in it. Join us!!!
