You're Not Doing It Wrong. You're Doing It Wrong For You.
How I stopped wasting money on strategies that weren't built for my Human Design Profile

I’ve been helping women start and grow their businesses online for eight years. And in the first few years, I just figured I would show up, teach business basics, and help women get started pretty simply.
My business background is pretty extensive. I’ve been in business since my early 20s. I have my MBA from one of the top schools in entrepreneurial business. I spent 20 years as a Vice President of Marketing and Sales at IBM. And I’ve been building my own businesses since 2017.
So I came in with a lot of tools, a lot of knowledge, and a genuine desire to help. Some of my clients took what I was teaching and just ran with it, started their businesses and had real success. But many, many others would not have the successful results, and this became my main focus.
The Pattern I Kept Seeing (In My Clients AND Myself)
Some women would try certain strategies and have success. Other strategies would completely fall flat for them. And I was noticing the same thing for myself. I’d work with coaches, learn strategies, implement them and some would work unbelievably well while others would absolutely crash and burn. And I didn’t understand why.
In my pursuit of trying to help more of my clients achieve a breakthrough, I started to see two things going on.
First: self-doubt and fear. So much fear. Women were either holding themselves back by either consuming, planning, preparing, but not actually putting themselves out there; or they were trying all the things and never letting anything stick, always chasing the next shiny object.
Second: because different strategies were working for different people, I got really curious. And I knew the answer wasn’t just “mindset work.” It was something else, it was who they were being. Their true, authentic nature. And how to get into real alignment with strategies that were actually right for them.
What I Tried First
I got certified in Bob Proctor’s methodologies to help my clients shift paradigms. I learned the Enneagram and tried to bring it in. Both helped a bit — but not enough.
I also knew that I wasn’t here to work one-on-one with people forever. I wanted to help thousands of women. So I needed to find a tool — a methodology — that could help many people, and that they could even use on their own.
And Then Human Design Came Into My Life
It is the absolute truth: Human Design completely changed my life. It saved my marriage. It completely changed how I saw myself. And most importantly for my business, it helped me understand which marketing and sales strategies were going to work for me, and which ones were not.
When I discovered this, I knew I had to bring it to all of my clients. And it’s been such a beautiful, incredible journey.
Quick background for anyone new to it: Human Design is a system that combines the ancient wisdom of the I Ching, quantum physics, and our divine spirit. It was originally transmitted by Ra Uru Hu decades ago. (I rewrote the entire human design language when I brought it to my clients because I found the original to be very esoteric and a bit pessimistic. I love Ra, but the language needed a refresh.)
The Key: Your Profile
In Human Design, your Profile holds the keys to the role you’re meant to play to fulfill your purpose. Understanding your Profile — and your energetic frequency — shows you how people are meant to experience you.
For me personally, I’m a 2/4. That means people really need to get to know me before they’re going to trust me, before they can see how I can support them. And likewise, I need to feel comfortable with someone before I can show up as my full self.
So much of the online marketing space is not built for a 2/4. A lot of strategies out there are built for a 5/1 or a 3/5. And I was trying to use those strategies for years.
The $10,000 Lesson I Learned the Hard Way
Back in 2021 or 2022, someone told me quiz funnels were the way to go. So I spent thousands of dollars and months and months creating a quiz funnel for an evergreen strategy in my business. And after all that time and all that money, it didn’t work. It absolutely didn’t work for me.
Could it work for some people? 100%. That’s the thing, all the strategies work. All the platforms work. All the things can work to grow a business. But what doesn’t work is trying to use a strategy that doesn’t fit your Profile.
Understanding this has changed the game for me and for my clients.
