The Awakening: Why Women Over 50 Are Being Called to Lead—And Why Substack Is Where It Happens
Midlife & Substack are the perfect marriage
Rather listen? I got you »
Okay, can we talk about what’s happening right now?
Because I’ve been watching the world basically lose its mind, and I’ve also been watching women near or over 50 feeling like... what now? Where do I fit in all this chaos?
I’m right there with you. I’ve spent the last few months really sitting with this, and here’s where I’ve landed: We’re not meant to sit this one out. Actually, I think we’re the exact people who need to show up right now.
The Era of Conformity Is Ending
Most of our lives we’ve been taught to conform. Stay in line. Follow the rules. Don’t make waves. Don’t be too much. It was definitely generationally passed down.
So we played by the rules and picked a career, had success, made money, raised kids, and have had a great life - but right now is a pivotal moment for you and I.
We are ready. We are ready to do our legacy work. We are ready to color outside the lines. We are ready to create our own rules in these next decades we have left.
The timing isn’t just because we are in midlife, it is also because of a major shift happening collectively. We are entering a new era, and it will be a bumpy ride - but one filled with opportunity for us.
This Is the Era of the Individual
Human Design calls this the Sleeping Phoenix or the New Era 2027. And whether you’re into that or not, something is definitely shifting.
This is about personal awakening. Trusting your intuition. Actually expressing yourself uniquely and according to your own divine design.
The shift to the new era will create some chaos. Dethroned gurus, fallen leaders, broken systems, overbearing structures and appalling human behavior are part of a fall so that something new can rise up.
We have been and will most likely continue to see this in almost every area of life. From governments, healthcare, school system, careers and big business…
There will be a vacuum of leadership in all of these areas. A time for new leaders to rise up. New beliefs to form. And it will cause conflict. But it will also cause innovation & new values.
The Sleeping Phoenix is upon us and it can be an incredible era for humanity.
And I really believe women in midlife are uniquely suited for this moment. We’ve lived enough. We’ve seen enough. We’ve learned enough. And we are more bold, confident and love ourselves more than any other time in our life!
That quote from the Dalai Lama about the world being saved by the Western woman? Yeah, I believe that. But I’d add something.
The world needs the ignited woman.
Not the woman drowning in rage on social media. Not the woman fighting in the comments. Not the reactionary woman.
The ignited woman. The revolutionary woman.
The one who’s on fire with purpose but also grounded. Calm. Clear. Who refuses to get pulled into the chaos.
The woman who knows that her wisdom, her thought leadership, her voice can absolutely make a difference.
You Were Designed for This Time
I’ve been working with Human Design for a while now, it is my favorite tool to help women near or over 50 find their voice, get to clarity and purpose.
I rewrote the entire language of Human Design by a woman for women.
Your voice. Your message. What you’re here to do. There’s something specific you’re built for.
This new era needs people who can lead through intuition. Who can actually be themselves instead of what they think society wants them to be. Who can build real community around real ideas. Generational shifts in values and purpose.
People who can help others stop living on autopilot.
And if you’re near or over 50? You’ve got the wisdom. The perspective. The lived experience that younger people just don’t have yet.
As I have worked with 1000s of women globally to step into their legacy work and bring their voices forward, there has been a huge obstacle.
Social media platforms require us to be actors! I don’t know about you - but I was not born with acting skills.
Instagram and Youtube require you to perform by being funny, raw, aesthetically pleasing, and on trend so the algorithm will maybe (but most likely not) promote you.
I have had a business for 8 years and I have never had these platforms work for me. I have had to work for these platforms - and even then it has been pay to play.
Why Instagram Will Never Be Your Home
Instagram doesn’t want your depth. YouTube doesn’t want your wisdom. Those platforms were built for performance and sensationalism and short-form everything.
They were built to make you feel like you’re not enough.
Not young enough. Not perfect enough. Not trending enough.
I grew my business to multiple seven figures without organic social media growth. I used paid ads. I went on other people’s platforms. Because I knew organic reach on Instagram and Facebook was dead for women like us.
But then I found Substack. And everything changed.
What Makes Substack Different
When I first heard about Substack, I was like... another platform? No thanks.
But my mentor kept pushing. She said if I wanted to actually get my book out there, I needed to check out Substack.
So I set it up in December. Posted one article. Couple of notes. Then the holidays happened and I kind of forgot about it.
Until January.
I had a VIP day with my mentor and we decided I was going all in on 50 Not Finished. We literally prayed about it that day.
And then the wildest thing happened.
A post I’d written two weeks before started blowing up. Not when I posted it. Two weeks later.
That has never happened to me on any platform. Ever.
That post is still growing my following today. I’ve gained over a thousand subscribers organically in less than two months. Almost $13,000 in revenue. I’m now in the top 3 rising in culture and just became Substack Best Seller!
This has never happened in eight years of building my business.
Why Substack Is Built for Women Like Us
So here’s what I figured out. Substack isn’t just a newsletter platform. It’s basically an all-in-one business toolkit.
Website. Email. Landing pages. Content hub. Podcast hosting. Live streaming. Social feed through notes. Payment processing.
All free.
Like, actually free. Everything you need to start or relaunch your business.
But the real difference? The culture.
When I’m on Instagram or Facebook, my nervous system is on fight or flight mode. The ads targeting me based on conversations my phone overheard. The influencers who are really just early adopters claiming to be experts. The constant visual assault of filters and anti-aging content and not being enough.
It’s exhausting, and demeaning. And don’t get me started on the blatant consumerism trying to get me to buy something on every scroll.
Substack feels completely different. My nervous system actually calms down.
The thought leadership is deep. The conversations matter. People actually care. There’s no visual bombardment. No guru energy of “I have all the answers, buy my thing.”
It’s more like “we’re figuring this out together.”
I personally have found this to open my creativity. Helping me find my voice. Test ideas. Connect with people who actually want to hear from me.
The Content That Works Here Is Different
I’ve been watching the biggest names in online marketing bring their teams to Substack and post their repurposed Instagram & Youtube content.
It’s not working.
Substack doesn’t want your “how to make 10K months in 3 easy steps.” It doesn’t want your “look at me” visuals. It doesn’t want AI-generated posts that we can all smell from a mile away.
Substack wants thought leadership. Perspective. Big ideas.
It wants “we” not “I.” Conversation, not performance. Depth, not quick tips.
The great news here is that is something I think we are all most natural at anyway!
We don’t need to dance on reels. We don’t need to be Instagram influencers or Youtube famous. Which is great news because we also don’t want to be actors.
We want to do good work. Share what we know. Actually help people.
And Substack finally rewards that.
This Is About Your Legacy Work
So let me ask you something. What’s your role in this new era?
What do you want to say? What are you here to build?
The old era is ending whether we like it or not. Systems are falling. Structures are crumbling.
We either resist it, or we rise. We react or we rebel.
And I’m guessing you’re here because you’re choosing to rise & rebel. To become a revolutionary!
Getting to consistent $10K months was the hardest part of my business. Way harder than making $400K months!
It was hard because what was being taught actually didn’t work for most people. The market has changed and the gurus are teaching something that worked for them in 2016, but it doesn’t work for those just starting in 2026.
Substack is different. It’s like a matchmaker to your dream people. The algorithm actually works with you. When you show up with depth and authenticity, it finds the people who need to hear from you.
It is the most magical place on the internet for women near or over 50 wanting to do legacy work, not become an online marketing expert.
What You Can Build Here
Imagine having paid subscribers generating recurring revenue while you also work with clients.
Imagine building your email list organically while testing ideas and getting real feedback on what lands.
Imagine having a home base where you’re not fighting algorithms or competing with ads or trying to keep up with trends.
Imagine connecting with people who actually want your wisdom vs followers gained because you went viral on a trending reel.
That’s what’s possible.
And we’re still early. Substack has been around for six years, but its time is now. Organic growth is still happening. Now is the time. Let’s build our voice, our depth and our connection to our tribes on Substack now.
Your Voice Matters
Ra Uru Hu, the founder of Human Design, talked about our outer authority—basically the magic of our voice. How we express ourselves and get paid for it.
I think developing your voice is the most important work right now.
The voices of women near or over 50 are needed right now.
And Substack is where they get heard.
This Is Your Time
We are not too old. We are not too late. We are not irrelevant.
We are exactly who this moment needs.
Our wisdom. Our perspective. Our voice.
The world needs the ignited women. That is you and me.
So the question is: Are you ready?
Ready to step into your legacy work? Ready to build what comes next?
Because I am. And I’m hoping you’ll join me.
This is big. This is time.
Let’s do this together on Substack.

I’m 15 years past my Chiron Return and all the lessons of that time forged me into who I need to be to be here, Now to midwife into this new era of love ♥️
